Alternative Investments has been established with 3 funds, Old Mutual Ulimi Fund, Old Mutual Private Equity Fund and Old Mutual Infrastructure Fund; sectors that have been purposefully selected as they are critical sectors of the economy.
Old Mutual Ulimi Fund
- Open-ended fund with target investments in agricultural opportunities such as farmland, biological assets, agricultural infrastructure, agri-business among others.
Current investments include Jacoma Estates Limited , the first fully irrigated macadamia farm and the largest exporter of bird’s eye chilli and paprika in Malawi. Ulimi Fund is also invested in Gala Agriculture Limited (Gala Macs) . Operating with 12 farms, Gala Macs is one of the largest macadamia farms in Africa.

- Open ended fund with target Investments in financial services and light manufacturing sectors.

Old Mutual Infrastructure Investment Trust Fund
- Open ended fund with target investments in Infrastructure investments such as housing, transport infrastructure, renewable energy as well as other directly related assets
- Investment opportunities being considered include Student Accommodation, Telecommunications infrastructure and transport infrastructure.
